Fund for protection of Lake Baikal held the exhibition “Magic world of Lake Baikal”

On May 24, 2012 the exhibition Magic World of Lake Baikal took place in France within the framework of the presentation of the Republic of Buryatia tourist potential. The unique photos on the stands showed the most exciting moments of the three-year international scientific expedition Mirs at Lake Baikal, organized by the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal in 2008-2010.

The exhibition was organized at the Russian Ambassador’s residence in Paris under the auspices of the Association Franco-Russian dialogue with the support of the Embassy and Commercial Representation of the Russian Federation in France. METROPOL Group and JSC Russian Railways acted as the organizers of the event, the guests were representatives of tourist business in France, Russia and other European countries, representatives of diplomatic and social circles.

In his appeal to the event participants the State Duma Deputy, Chairman of the Guardianship Board of the FPLB Mikhail Slipenchuk said that such events are evidence of fruitful and successful work of the Franco-Russian dialogue.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to France A.Orlov, Head of the administration of JSC Russian Railways V.Bushuev, President of the Republic of Buryatia V.Nogovitsyn made a speech of welcome. They made the main emphasis on the fact that today Buryatia is becoming the attraction center of tourists from all over the world, and it is necessary “to arouse interest and desire of French people to visit Lake Baikal, Republic of Buryatia and to see one of the Russian jewels”.

The tourist potential of the Republic of Buryatia was represented by Head of the Republican Fund for Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Buryatia M.Egorov. General Director of the Travel Agency Metropol-Express A.Zotova talked about the tourist assets of METROPOL Group at Lake Baikal and the investment project for construction of tourist-recreational zone Baikal Harbor.
