“Mysterious Russia” to reveal the secret of Baikal Lake’s host

In the new season NTV will show “The Ghosts of Baikal” film as part of the documentary series “Mysterious Russia”. In the beginning of this summer the filmmakers went to Lake Baikal to find out about all fables and legends devoted to the ghosts of this ancient lake.

“We have been both on the Buryatia and Irkutsk sides of Baikal. We met with shamans and ordinary people. We found out that the host of the lake is not a character of a myth. Enigmatic force which can punish for disrespect to the lake does exist, really! But people who respect and esteem Baikal, who take care of it find what they looked for here”, the Mysterious Russia filmmakers said.

The show will include scenes shot on Olkhon Island, rituals of shamans, stories of officers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the writer Vampilov’s story, an interview with chairman of the Guardianship Board of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal M. Slipenchuk, vice-president of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal B. Tsyrenov who will tell about the bathyscaphes Miry’ expeditions, how the Baikal’s ghosts hampered and helped them. But the point is that the expedition has managed to find the legendary Kolchak’s gold with the help of the bathyscaphes and by with assent of the ghosts! Now the video materials are in the process of preparation for film editing.

In 2012 “Mysterious Russia” plans to tell about a most enigmatic place on the Earth – the Patomsk crater. Thanks to the help and assistance of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal the filmmakers of “Mysterious Russia” could go to the crater together with eminent scientists-geologists. They have collected samples at the crater, research of which opens up new pages in the history of this unique place.
