The deepest sorrow was brought by the death of Andrey Kapitsa, a prominent Russian Scientist, Honored Professor, Chairman of the Rational Nature Management Department of the Geography Faculty at the Moscow State University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and my teacher. This is a grievous loss for the Russian science and for all of us – his students, colleagues and friends.

Andrey Kapitsa was a prominent Scientist, an author of many scientific publications, and a wonderful Person and Teacher. He lived a long, exciting and interesting life and has earned international recognition as a Scientist, Leader and Researcher. He generously shared his Talent, knowledge and kindness. Andrey Kapitsa for me is not only a prominent researcher but a wise and experienced Mentor, a Person who passionately loved what he did, a person with unique knowledge and his own views on life.

I express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will always live in my memory.
