Fund for protection of Lake Baikal and Save Baikal will hold the eco-action “Clean Coast of Selenga River” in Ulan-Ude

On July 7 the action “Clean Coast of Selenga River” will take at 11 am on the Embankment of the river Selenga in Ulan-Ude (between bus station and the stadium “Centralniy”). Cleaning of the coastal zone in the center of the capital of Buryatia is a part of the Global Campaign Let's DoIt - Worldcleanup 2012 and the All-Russian action on garbage collection, which brings together 83 regions, districts and 1829 22,078 municipalities in Russia.

Organizers of the action in Ulan-Ude: team “Create Motion” (the main project “Save Baikal”) and the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal. The action was also supported by the city administration of Ulan-Ude and the United Nations Development Program. The purpose of the action is to draw public attention to environmental issues, in particular, to the problems of collection and disposal of garbage on the shores of Lake Baikal and the rivers flowing into it. The participants of the action will hold explanatory talks, hand out information flyers, and all who wish to join the campaign will receive from the organizers garbage bags and gloves. For the first time in this campaign the sorting of waste will be organized.

The organizers invite all not indifferent to participate in this environmental action and to contribute to the preservation of the purity and natural beauty of his native land!

Before the event, on July 6 the radio station “Europe Plus Ulan-Ude” (102,3 FM) will hold a live meeting with the organizers of the action with drawing of souvenirs offered by the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal.
