The note of thanks was received by Chairman of the Guardianship Board of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal M. Slipenchuk from Permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation to UNESCO E. Mitrofanova for active assistance of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal in the organization of the eventful program of actions in the headquarters of UNESCO within the international scientific and practical conference Baikal - the world treasure.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of the Fund, Delegation of the Russian Federation at UNESCO, orlderitageenterandcience Sector of UNESCO it was possible to carry out the successful scientific discussion on the most actual problems of research and preservation of the unique Russian natural object – Lake Baikal”, - it is told in the letter, - “The forum gathered a large number of outstanding scientists, researchers and inventors from the different countries of the world, representative group of deputies of the State Duma, influential heads and the staff of the Russian and foreign state structures, representatives of Scientific and Production Association and the enthusiasts – ecologists, united by the interest to the fate of the great lake”.

“Resolution adopted at the meeting in UNESCO defines bases of perspective development of research and ecological development of our object in cooperation and with use of the richest expert capacity of the largest humanitarian organization of the UN system”, - Eleonora Mitrofanova noted. – “The Forum gave the chance to show the possibilities of the Baikal region in terms of tourist and recreational use, his unique attractiveness for the development of “green” economics and tourism”.
