18.11.2011

XIX International Science Conference on Marine Geology came to an end on November, 18. A.M. Sagalevich, the Director of the Manned Submersibles Laboratory of the P. P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Chairman of the Technical Board of the Fund, delivered a report at the final plenary session of the conference. Anatoly Mikhailovich pointed out that research institutes from many countries have showed increased interest in Russian submersibles Mir. These submersibles are able to dive to 6,000 meters which covers 98 % of the world’s underwater research fields.

In his answers to questions from audience, A.M.Sagalevich noted the importance of public private partnerships for development of the modern science and mentioned the International Science Expedition Mirs at Baikal organised by the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal in 2008-2010 as an example.
