“This exhibition relays the idea of the expedition “Mirs at Lake Baikal”, the 5th anniversary of which we will soon celebrate. We wanted to show that our lake – is the purest and most beautiful. All frames that are used in the exhibition are drawn from the manned submersibles “Mir”. We plan to provide some more exclusive video content for the exhibition”, - said Vice-President of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal Bair Tsyrenov.
This project was developed by the Museum within the framework of the project “Every drop matters – BonAqua for clean future of Lake Baikal”. The project was also supported by the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Buryatia, Baikal Information Center “Fringe”, United Nations Development Program and Coca Cola Company. .
During the exhibition, the curators of the exhibition showed various physical experiments with water, reported on the composition and properties of water, conducted creative workshops for young visitors.
“We have always dreamed that in our Republic there is a project, showed the beauty of the underwater Lake Baikal, and it has appeared. The exhibition in the form of a bathyscaphe - we wanted to be a little bit like the manned submersibles “Mir”. Children fall into a different space, where there are portholes around, where you can look at the Baikal animals... I would like to thank our partners for their support of this project. We hope that this exhibition will be visited”, - said the director of the National Museum Tatiana Boronoeva.
