Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal took part in the International eco campaign “Day of the Earth”

On 26 April the ecological cleaning day was held in Moscow, in a specially protected natural area “Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo” with the international campaign “Day of the Earth”, organized by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Moscow.

The action and its opening was attended by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal, Deputy of State Duma M.Slipenchuk, head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Moscow A.Kulbachevskiy, Deputy of State Duma I.Novitskiy. The event gathered more than 500 volunteers – pupils, students, residents, representatives of environmental organizations.

Addressing the participants of “Day of the Earth” M.Slipenchuk stressed the importance and the need for conduct of such events that improve the environmental situation in the capital. Particularly, he noted the large number of young people who had come to work, because the future of our planet depends on their environmental education and self-awareness. On behalf of the Fund M.Slipenchuk invited everyone in the summer season to visit Lake Baikal and to take part in similar actions which are regularly held there by the FPLB.

M.Slipenchuk participated in planting trees in the park Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo and in symbolic actions to collect waste plastic.
