On February 29, Chairman of the Guardianship Board of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal, Head of the Environmental Management Department of Moscow State University Mikhail Slipenchuk gave a presentation Underwater researches of Lake Baikal at the commission of the underwater geography of the Moscow branch, Russian Geographic Society.

In his speech Mr. Slipenchuk spoke about the main phases of the Lake underwater studing, about the details of the expedition Mirs at Baikal and the peculiarities of functioning of the unique submersibles Mir. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on prospects for the further scientific studies of Lake Baikal, associated first of all with the touristic activity development in the region.
