Khakusy Ecological Camp by the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal Opened

13.07.2011

The Khakusy ecocamp opened its doors. On the first day, the project team distributed duties, appointed people responsible for the kitchen, developed a plan for the day and started active scientific work. Campers had polled tourists and started working on the routes according to the program. The plan of the camp activities was developed by teachers of the Geography Departments of universities of Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and Severobaykalsk jointly with the representatives of the Barguzin State Biosphere Reserve. The campers’ ability to do intensive research will depend on the Baikal weather. In the next few days campers intend to take a motor boat trip to the Ayaya bay and then to the Frolikha lake along the ecopath.

The Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal and the North Baikal Region government provide comprehensive assistance for campers' comfortable stay at Khakusy. The motor boat provided by the local government delivers fresh bread and other necessary necessities to the camp, and the Barguzin Reserve assigned a guide for the entire duration of the camp. The entertainment program was not left without attention. The ecoteam had a motor boat trip to the Caves and visited the Khakusy hot springs.
