Representatives of FPLB become participants of the International Conference in St. Petersburg

The first International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of study and conservation of Marine heritage of Russia”, organized with the support of the Marine Board of the Government of Russia, Russian Ministry of Culture, the Maritime Board under the Government of St. Petersburg, Russian Geographical Society and other agencies, was held on October 27-30, 2010, in St. Petersburg. The organizers of the Forum, which was held on the icebreaker "Krasin" and in the Central Museum of Communications, were the Association of Maritime Heritage of Russia, the Central Naval Museum, the Museum of world's oceans. Among the conference participants were representatives of FPLB - Member of the Scientific Council of FPLB, director of the Baikal Museum, V.A. Fialkov and the Chairman of the Technical Council of FPLB, the Hero of Russia, A.M. Sagalevich. Professor A. Sagalevich  delivered a speech on “The role of deepwater manned vehicles "Mir Subs" in the preservation of international and domestic maritime heritage”  within the section "Underwater cultural and natural heritage" he stressed the great importance of the "Mir Subs on Lake Baikal” Expedition in the study and preservation of this unique Russian natural object. The famous limnologist, V.A. Fialkov, in his report entitles "The Baikal Museum is the custodian and promoter of science, underwater and maritime heritage of Russia in Siberia," spoke about the "unique history of exploration of Lake Baikal”, prepared by FPLB this year at the exposition area of the Baikal Museum.
